Saturday, September 30, 2023 - The joy of a forgotten bottle in the cellar. I have stopped drinking Barossa Shiraz a good ten years ago not because I think the quality was bad, but just because I have stopped liking these full bodied wines. So when I found this last left over bottle I thought to give it a try with the right food. It was a very nice surprise, Greenock Creek being a top producer that part was of course not surprising. TN: Expressive nose of to torefaction, licorice, blackberry intermixed with noticeable tertiary notes around smoke, leather. The palate is rich, with sweet spices, no signs of oxidation or cooked fruit. There is enough freshness and the tannins are top notch, creating a soft mouthfeel. Popular at the table.
