Friday, March 24, 2017 - Ridge Petite Sirah ages so beautifully that I feared that I was opening this too young, despite the bewildering notes from 2007 proclaiming this wine on its way down. It is in a great place right now. A beautiful nose of red fruit, wood spice, pepper, chocolate. On the palate the plummy fruit is fading, giving way to spice, tar, dried flowers. Excellent structure, with mouth coating tannin and high lingering acidity. This has the structure to last another ten years, though the fruit will fade before then. Very good.
