Monday, September 11, 2017 - Celebrating the closing of escrow on our CA home, a house we thought we'd own until retirement and socialism made CA unbearable, financially and politically. Opened and aired 45 mins but not decanted; followed over 2.5 hours. Muted nose of tea, rosemary and black cherry, maybe some licorice. Watery black cherry flavor as a base, aged cedar. Shows elegance but not the layering or depth I look for in a top-vintage Monty. Probably in the heart of its drinking, will try another bottle in '18 and assume best drinking byy 2020-22.
