Friday, January 15, 2010 - Starts immediately with a solid serving of tapenade. Black olive and oil on nose and palate. Then a strong barnyard component steps up, but this is the venue for it. Leather, blood, tart fruit, and always olives. Even a slight hint of cream on the nose at some points.
Very nice wine in a really good place. Tannins resolved but you can still sense them on the finish. No bricking, very youthful in color. Very lightly done compared with more modern Syrahs, but very flavorful. I enjoyed this very much.
