93 Points

Saturday, January 8, 2011 - Only my second time with this maker. Deeper in color and character than the 90 Gaja Barbaersco. Much darker in profile with tarry, savory , balsamic aromas. There's still roses, but more darness, power and meatiness. Brooding dark flavors of balsam, plums, tar and anise. This has excellent balance, with a beautiful floral component that plays beautifully with the blacker flavors and an almost meat reduction savory background. Big fine tannins creep in on the back end. This is outstanding stuff at peak with no fear of going downhill anytime soon. Excellent
