Tuesday, June 29, 2004 - At Victors in NY. The nose was explosive on first opening. It is among the more intense noses I have smelled in a young wine. After 4-5 hours of air it really shut down, so if you open one, try it earlier. The nose showed blood, blackberries, vanilla, and dried herbs. The palate was big and obviously very young with loads of structure. The tannins really zinged and bordered on over the top. The finish was very long. This wine needs decades but it will be a winner. 92+
