Sunday, November 27, 2011 - Thanksgiving get together. Purple at the rim; a deep dark garnet color. Wonderful aromas and flavors of blackberry, soft blackcurrent, earthiness, leather, raw beef, tar, iron, violets, spice. Rich, powerful, smooth and balanced. A long, long finish of some 45 - 50 seconds. Difficult to give this wine any justice in scoring, after a 1989 Haut Brion. The wine is probably at the beginning of its plateau and should last a couple decades. Score 96-97.
