Friday, July 25, 2008 - Delicious. Hadn't had an old world Syrah of this caliber before...and it was worth the wait. Decanted for approximately three hours. One sip snuck before our guests arrived was delicious, but pretty tight. Good thing to give this air. By hour three, it was drinking splendidly. Like an understated, more elegant version of the best Aussie. I realize I'm coming at this the wrong way...New World Shiraz should be phrased in terms of old-world Syrah...nonetheless, this is a delicate, perfectly-balanced wine with layer after layer of blue fruit that is nearly perfect for this palate. Now I understand the hype.
