Sunday, July 30, 2023 - After having such a life-changing Giacosa last week, this was a real disappointment. Came across overripe with strong VA both on the palate and nose. Kept a small pour overnight and the next day no discernible changes. Bottle variation or barrel variation more like it?

7/31/2023 6:27:00 AM - There are supposedly a lot of cork issues w/ 2001 Barolo/Barbaresco, so my bet is either that or storage. By cork issues I mean the closure not doing its job properly in terms of keeping out oxygen, not TCA

7/31/2023 5:12:00 PM - Thanks for the comment and the explanation. I heard elements of this previously. I can understand oxidized or advanced wine due to bad cork but not sure how it can be overripe and develop VA due to excess oxygen. But that being said, I don't have a better reason.
