I tasted my first glass of this without any decanting and thought it was off a bit - definitely closed down - it began to open up after a few hours in the glass. On day two the wine was strutting its stuff with a meaty, smoky nose, and nice layered mocha, blackberry, pepper and clove. Still tannic with a firm structure.
