Saturday, August 29, 2009 - Southern Rhones-2007 and 2005 (Beltramo's, Menlo Park): Medium ruby. Licorice, creosote, and candied fruit. After the almost overwhelming Mordoree Lirac, this is a completely different animal-more elegant, lighter weight, lots of herb tones and much less obvious fruit. Very good basic cuvee and the only one of the '07s that did not show any trace of excess alcohol. What a relief.
