Tuesday, February 1, 2022 - Deep cherry red still. Interesting nose of brandied cherries, volcanic ash, cocoa powder, black tea with a minty topnote. Nose is a touch dusty but the palate is luscious and dense as if it's been concentrated by age. Has a nice push-pull of bitter/sweet and tender/severe with all the acidity reminds me of a mature Aglianico. Difficult vintage which yielded only 12.2% alc but made a wine that is easily going the distance. I'll note that this was still in great shape after a night under argon, not a step lost.
