90 Points

Sunday, March 11, 2012 - I had forgotten I had this left in the cellar and discovered that I had three bottles. This note is from the last bottle, but all three were consistent. I didn't expect much from these given the relatively humble estate this far out from the vintage, but I was pleasantly surprised. While lacking the power and complexity of one of the marquis wines from this vintage, there's plenty to enjoy here. This opens up well with 10-15 minutes in the glass. Nice smokey/earthy component to go with some secondary fruit and smooth tannins. An absolute lesson in why petite chateau from great vintages can be excellent bargains.
