Thursday, February 20, 2014 - This was disjointed and unbalanced on night one, but much improved on night two, when I took these notes. Dark, cloudy, sappy purple color. Pronounced nose of kirsch, red licorice, candied strawberries and raspberries, and a nice note of cinnamon baking spice. The palate is full-bodied with nice viscosity, brining Manhattan cherries, ripe blackberries, black licorice, and touches of herbs, spices, mushrooms, and garrigue. The finish is still not yet complete and sort of drags this wine down: the tannins are messy and intrusive and the acidity is uneven. However, this has potential and is from a respected Estate, so I would let rest a few more years. Drink 2017-2020.
