88 Points

Thursday, February 2, 2017 - 2007 CdP retro (with sushi food pairing) (Streeterville, Chicago): Nose: The nose is ripe and richer with hot stones, red fruits, red cherries, spice tones, raspberries, and some red florals. While this favors a riper side, there are some attractive and creamy red fruits.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium tannins. The tannins are silky with the feel showing some plushness with hot stones, red fruits, red cherries, red florals, licorice, liqueur, and some noticeable alcohol.

Overall: This would be fantastic if the alcohol wasn't a bit out of balance. It has avoided some of the stewed qualities that other wines have had with some ripe and balanced red fruits on the nose and palate. It does lack some depth though that would really send this into a different level.
