Monday, October 3, 2011 - Staying very burly and rough, but finally starting to settle nicely into middle age - no mid life crisis detected here. Best thing about the wine is the nose - rich and exuberant in its cherry and expresso draw, but also noticable is the alcohol - which is amazing considering the wine is now more than 12 years from harvest. Of all the bottles of this wine I've had I think this one wil lbe my favorite, which bodes well for its future(rich cassis, some mint and lingering black pecoe undertones). Considering that the tannins are still borderline sandpapery, and the acids are going strong, I'm giving this one at least another 12 years before its real drink window closes. Good news for those with bottles still remaining in the cellar.
