2007 Rhys Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Sunday, May 1, 2011 - 13.3% ABV. Tasted over a couple days. Translucent ruby garnet in the glass. Fragrant, somewhat unique nose of black cherry, roses, earth, and spices along with something I couldn't quite put my finger on. Overall, really nice nose. Medium bodied and more reticent on the palate with tangy, zesty cherry fruit primarily. Day 2, the nose was still really interesting while the palate may have firmed up a bit with some grippy tannins, tangy cranberry and cherry fruit and some serious late acidity. Lots of potential. This isn't the sort of wine that makes me say "yum," but it is certainly a wine that is intellectually stimulating.
