Sunday, May 31, 2015 - I am so glad I waited for this wine, but wish I had more. Clear deep purple colour with hardly any sign of aging. The nose kept developing over a two hour period, starting with a smoke (duck, bacon?) intensity to begin with along with wet stone and a background of ripe fruit. This soon changed to licorice with fresh red berries, plum, with a slight mint and woody background.
In the mouth it had a medium but complex body, again bringing the ripe red berries to the fore. Wonderfully long in the mouth.
An absolute delight and I look forward to visiting the vineyard in a couple of weeks.
Perfect to have opened at the announcement of my daughter's engagement !
