92 Points

Friday, January 23, 2015 - I agree with all that pointet out the prune flavor extravaganca of this wine, but on top of it it shows notes of white pepper and wood, which calms the whole thing down. What i like about the wine is the structure and balance and the authenticity od old school C9dP. What I am missing is the special something! All is a bit tame and one-dimensional. While I technically "only" rate this wine a 92 pts I do like it quite a bit as it shows character and edges. Not a stunning Braucastel but more a interesting gentleman to talk to about the 'good old days' instead of a perfectly styled 'beau' showing off his pumped up muscles that fall apart in 5 years time. Drink now - 2025 (ideally out of the Riedel Sommeliers 'Hermitage' / Syrah glass).
