Community Tasting Note

Saturday, October 30, 2010 - 14.5% ABV. I tasted this twice at a retailer under less than ideal conditions. The first taste had been sitting in a plastic cup on a table for some time and was not showing well. Translucent dark garnet in the glass with a reticent nose. Medium full bodied with closed dark currant and cocoa flavors. Really not that impressive. My second taste came straight out of the bottle and was more like what I expected with plush ripe currant fruit and a high class french oak toastiness. Ripe sweet black currant and black berry fruit on the palate. 93+ for the second taste.
