Tuesday, December 20, 2011 - Deep, dark purple in color. I continue to love this wine. Only four bottles left of a case purchased one year ago for $12.79/bottle. The nose is hot and dominated by dark unsweetened chocolate with undertones of caramel and pomegranate. Tannins competed with acid through the mid palate to form a distinct flavor of tobacco with cedar and pepper giving way to some to fruit of plum, fig and crème de cassis on the finish. Dry, mouth gripping tannins are the story here that linger for 20+ seconds. As this wine evolves, they should soften and allow more of the fruit to show. If I can only keep my hands off the last four.
