Saturday, January 27, 2024 - I am happy to say that after leaving two previous scores in the mid 80's, that the bottle I opened tonight, after over 20 years in the bottle and an hour in the decanter, was finally ready to drink and was very enjoyable. It had higher acidity reminiscent of Italian wines, but had rich dark fruit that reminded you it was from California. My wife also commented how enjoyable it was after I cautioned her it might be a drain pour. Love to be proven wrong when a wine blossoms like this one. If you still have, drink now with just a short decant, mainly for sediment (I had a lot that stuck to the neck). Enjoy!

In my experience with various bottlings and vintages, 3+ hours makes a big difference and the wines open up and become more fruity. The inherent acidity allows this to work well most of the time. Cheers!
