Thursday, August 28, 2014 - While the 1981 Grand Puy Lacoste isn't going to make anyone forget the 1982, it is nonetheless an outstanding success in this underrated vintage, with an expressive and complex bouquet of blackcurrant, pencil shaving and gravelly soil tones, a solid core of fruit and a totally classic, medium-bodied palate impression. From a cold cellar this seamless Pauillac has an easy decade of prime-time drinking ahead of it.
