Saturday, May 27, 2023 - 2007 Corra Cabernet, Napa Valley. I've been debating when to open this wine and was in the mood for a 'classic' cab with integrated fruit and lots of structure. Unfortunately, that is NOT what I got. This is still incredibly primary and fruit forward. It's not 'bad' by any means and I certainly didn't hate it....it just wasn't what I was looking for. And frankly, this feels like a huge miss drinking it now. Oh well....it's impossible to time a wine perfectly. But for anyone who still has a bottle of this, HOLD!! It will definitely be worth it.

Even the classic winemakers chasing scores which is a shame because it was a great growing season. Hopefully these wines continue to evolve into classics like the recent Araujo I just pulled the cork on which was still a very young wine.

As a reference point, I opened an 09 Shafer Hillside the other day, and while I wouldn't go as far as calling it 'classically styled'....it was much closer than this Corra. And prob 3X as enjoyable, ha! Cheers man!
