Friday, June 24, 2011 - Very dark cherry core, almost opaque. No sign of evolution on the rim. Textbook Pauillac nose. Cigar box, cedar, smoke. Very cabernet sauvignon. Cassis and some green. Surprisingly ripe dark fruit, rich texture but still showing a greeness on the palate (bell pepper like) and a hint of graphite. In spite of the rich fruit, the finish is slightly hollow, (most probably a sign of the vintage?).
Still a very classic Pauillac which may benefit from further ageing. Love the style.
It was very interesting to drink this GPL next to the 1987 Laurel Glen Cab as both noses were really similar (different palates though).
