Sunday, April 7, 2019 - I can't improve on the previous notes. I am in full agreement and understand that giving numbers to a wine that was harvested while the Hilter controlled army occupied France is just silly. I guess that is why the previous reviewers didn't give numbers to this wine. It stood upright for 3 days prior to uncorking and with light under the bottle it was poured clear until about 3/4" remained. It remained on it's side during the pouring into the decanter. It was so dark, no bricking on the meniscus, we couldn't believe it. I thought it may be a fraud judging the color was so dark. Once the bouquet hit the nose and then the wine landed on the pallet there was no doubt that it was a 1943 Calon Segur. Simply unforgetable. Here is the hook. We opened a 1994 Harlan Estate as the second wine. A wine I had always declared as my favorite having it many times. It showed itself clumsy compared to the Segur. I will never make the mistake of pouring such philosophically different wines at the same time again. And yes, they both a great providence.
