Thursday, September 28, 2023 - Runner-up at a blind Sangiovese tasting. Still powerful fruity - mainly cherries - surrounded by smooth leathery and earthy notes. Tannins are still present and nice acidity hints at some additional shelf life (~3-5 years?).
Last bottle but lucky to have some younger vintages of the Fontalloro in my cellar.
Opened the bottle c. 1 hour before we started the tasting. Given the development during the event, I suggest either decanting or opening the 2006 Fontalloro 2h+ before the wine pleasuredome.
