Tuesday, March 17, 2015 - I waited ten long years to open the 2000 Grand Mayne, and I find myself wishing I had waited another five. Beautiful, dark red here with no sign of oxidation. On the nose the red cherry fruit is precise and doesn't smell a day over five. I was hoping for more tertiary aromas, more earth for that matter. This is still fruit forward, even after the third day open. The palate is silky smooth. This is a slow ager. If I had another bottle I would shoot for 2020.
