Wednesday, August 9, 2017 - Last tasted 12 months ago, this wine has significantly improved and is beginning to drink in its prime window. The nose is extraordinarily deep, full of aromas of plum and cherry. On the palate the fruit combines with tobacco and robust tannin with great depth and complexity. The only thing preventing the wine being great rather than just excellent, is the finish. Although initially balanced it unravels and finishes abruptly with a residual sourness. This doesn't impede the overall enjoyment of the wine and it is probably the best Grand Mayne drinking at present. Decanting recommended.
