Tuesday, November 10, 2009 - 14.7% ABV. Per the label, the Avenger is 75% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre, 10% Grenache. Popped and poured. Dark black garnet, mostly opaque in the glass. Aromatic nose of smoke, cedar/balsa wood, and green pepper. On the palate this shows sweet black fruit on the attack with nuances of cocoa and graphite. Medium-full bodied with good concentration. I found myself having some difficulty finding exactly the right flavors to describe this wine, and what I ended up with are pretty atypical for the grape blend, but I enjoyed the wine.
