91 Points

Wednesday, August 9, 2017 - Blend of 70% merlot and 30% cab franc, and "can be kept for five to seven years or more," according to the bottle. Well, at 10 years, it's drinking mighty nicely for my palate; in fact, I'm on a little run here of Long Island wines that are probably past the expected prime, but are really shining with some age. Might be time for another trip up soon.

Anyway, medium brickish garnet in color. Aromas of potting soil, funk, dried red fruits, potpourri, tobacco, black tea, old attic, cedar, green bell pepper, basil, and lemon. Fantastic aromatics. Medium body, medium(+) acid and finish, resolved tannins, luscious texture, and flavors of darker red fruits, orange and lemon peel, a dry, leathery tea like component, and a touch of minerality. Smooth, complex, and delicious. I'm guessing this was probably an 88-89 pt. wine (to me) in "it's prime," but it is rocking today and easily 91 pts. in my book.
