Monday, December 30, 2013 - A rich and delicious wine that shows the heat of the vintage while remaining balanced. The nose was all about black fruit and plum with sweet spice, crushed stone and hints of undergrowth. On the palate, it flooded the senses with spicy blackberry fruit. Wave after wave of velvet-textured fruit, spice and lavender were kept fresh yet lasted long, long long through the finish.

On this night, we enjoyed a German style meal with pork schnitzel in hunter sauce, with dumplings and red cabbage. Tasting this wine, I found it remarkable in how well it paired with these rich Teutonic treats. This was my last bottle and I am sad to see it go.
