Sunday, December 4, 2016 - Tasted blind.
Clear, medium intensity, garnet color.
Fully developed nose with medium(+) intensity. Aromas of plum, prune, dried black berry, decaying leaves, dried meat, violets, mud and truffle. Some toasted oak, coffee and tobacco noticeable in the background.
Medium(+) bodied with medium(+) tannins and medium acidity. Very dry and almost austere on the palate. Dried black fruit, dried meat, gravel dust, leather and woody oak coming through. Medium(+) intensity of flavors.
There's actually a lot to like about this wine but there's also something that I don't like so much. It has a really heavy, murky feeling to it that makes me not wanting another sip. It lacks that lightness and grace that I know that Syrah from this noble heritage can give. Drink now.
