Community Tasting Note

Sunday, January 29, 2012 - Purchased at PA state store for <$100, knowing the risk of improper storage. Ullage into the neck and the cork didn't crumble. Decanted x 3 times and sat for a total of 2 hours before first taste. Drank over 4 hours.
Nose: expressive classic cab fruits with obvious barnyard/green notes.
Palate: a little fruit, some chocolate, but a lot more backbone with manly earth, leather, and greens/mint. medium body with firm acid and silky tannins. Opened up over the meal and evolved in the glass. In retrospect, would have decanted for at least 4 hours before starting to drink, but that said, I don't see it achieving the level of fruit that other reviewers are mentioning.
I'd pop the cork on this now at the risk of losing more fruit over time.
