Saturday, December 1, 2012 - Ann pulled this from the cellar and poured it for me blind. Popped and poured and the rest went into a decanter. Tight at first, showing red fruits and black pepper. Medium bodied with good acidity. I initially thought this was a chateauneuf du pape. As it opened the fruit became more intense, almost sweet. Cherries, red raspberries. Lots of spice and black pepper I'm guessing from the stem inclusion. Some beef/meaty notes. Juicy. As Pax points out, it's not big and lush, which is one of the things I like about it. In the end I guessed a Cali GSM blend, and Wind Gap Orra. Close but no cigar.
