Tuesday, November 17, 2009 - I have not always liked the older bottlings of Remoissenet wines, but this one is quite nice. I believe that hey own these vines and perhaps these are better than negociant bottlings. Bottle and fill were excellent, the cork was wet up to the top and slipped out easily. This was my second bottle of this wine and it was every bit as good as the first. Very true to the vintage, it needed air before it settled down. Lovely weight, austere, but unfolding slowly and enticingly. Earth, red fruits etc.. Very much a wine for the traditionalist with excellent terroir fidelity and nothing of the modern styles afflicting so many previously great wines. I recommend the large Burg glass as this definitely trades on its aromatic complexity. Wonderful with traditional burgundian fare.
