Sunday, April 10, 2022 - The evolution of this wine has been nothing short of phenomenal!
I was going to pour it down the sink, but was too tired last night, so instead, I just put it in the kitchen.
It slowoxed all night and came out a primadonna!
Aromawise it is now strongly and a distinctly a Médoc wine. CS has taken over and it's a fairly rich, dense wine with good fruit, some tannic backbone, almost balanced acidity (carries a bit of unripeness) and a beautiful warm ball of home-made boiling jam.
Lovely!
The payoff for patience is overwhelming!

I also own a bottle of Leoville Poyferre 1980, which is also my vintage.

This was just pure luck!
As a padawan wine taster gonnabe, I learned that 1980 was a vintage to ignore. So I did. All the way until recently…
I was tricked by the knowitalls of the day.
