Sunday, February 23, 2014 - This is classic Rioja the way it should be done: a fabulous core of persistent fruit married to vanillin oak and a variety of spicy secondary favors. The nose is beautiful, with cinnamon, cloves and more prosaic flavor swelling up from the glass. On the palate the wine is still very lively, with good acidity and soft, but not yet fully resolved, tannins. This wine has at least 10 years of beautiful drinking ahead of it as the primary fruit favors are gradually replaced with more complex favors. The finish is deep, slightly drying, but very satisfying. For the $30.00 dollars I paid this is a bargain. I dare you to find quality at this price from Bordeaux at less than 3 or 4 times the price!
