Wednesday, January 4, 2006 - Back for more! After a slightly underwhelming experience with the same wine last night (see TN), I found myself back at the same restaurant and ordered it again tonight. Glad I did, as this bottle was quite different and, IMO, better than last night's. The second bottle had an extra layer of complexity / depth. Darker fruit - and, seemingly darker color - though, admittedly, it can be hard to tell given restaurant lighting. The second bottle had more grip and some earthy notes, as compared to the more polished, reserved and primary initial bottle. Really, I would not have recognized this as the same wine. Now I'm confused. Which was the representative bottle?? I would buy some for the cellar if future bottles were going to be more like the second. However, I'd probably sit the vintage out if bottle #1 is what's in store in the future... I guess this situation requires a tie breaker!
