Sunday, December 16, 2012 - Needed a 2-hour decant to start opening up and really hit its stride around 3 hours. Loads of blueberry, black cherry, black raspberry, plum, and currants up front with whiffs of cocoa, smoke, caramel, mineral, and iron in the back. Full-bodied, with dusty tannins that are nicely balanced by solid acidity. Rather fruit-forward and new-world focused in style. For fans of this style, it's ready to drink now and over the next couple years. A bit hedonistic for my taste, though, but well-made and enjoyable. If I end up with another bottle, I'd rather try it again in 3+ years.

Second day: A bit milder on the fruit with cassis, blueberry and blackberry leading the way with plum, caramel, jasmine, and raspberry in support. Finish is quite nice adding iron and mocha. More to my taste than yesterday due to the less-pronounced fruit, though not necessarily much better due to lessened intensity and a shorter finish.
