90 Points

Wednesday, October 20, 2010 - This wine is a benchmark wine for me in Napa- in good years it's a solid wine, in bad ones it's not all that. I think the 2007 is a winner. Very rich and ripe, slightly heavy on the oak, but the fruit shouts Napa to me with only the slightest hard edge at the back end. At the low $20s I think this one's a wine to buy for daily drinking, and maybe even to stash for a few years, I bet it'll develop great secondaries by about 2015 or so.

Addendum: After some time this wine toughened up, and on day 2 the tannins were pretty hard with a burnt edge. This reminds me a little of the 91 Mondavi Reserve, a really good wine IMO, but one that always had a bit of a burnt quality and a bit of a hard edge while still showing lots of sweet fruit.
