Tuesday, November 16, 2010 - Popped and poured. Very dark purple color in the glass. Nose of sweet black fruit, that after an hour or so faded and took on a raisiny character. In the mouth this is very lush and sweet, almost portlike such that I almost wonder if there's any RS (I looked it up and there's pretty much not, only .71). The 15.5% ABV shows up in a touch of heat. The tannin is mostly fine and soft. Shortish finish was more sweet fruit and heat. This was too heavy and over the top for me, and didn't even pair all that well with a New York strip, but if you're a fan of the lush, smooth ripe style of cab, you'd probably like this more.
