Thursday, April 24, 2014 - A solid Cali cab from an old favorite winery. For a non-premium cab, this Mondavi "house wine" "punches well above it's weight". It's an enjoyable red, with plenty of stuffing, cassis and ripe berries, deep red color. A hint of oak in the nose. A very nice wine for it's qpr. It might even age a bit more in the next year or two, but is more than ready to drink at present. If you didn't buy a case of this wine a few years ago, it's likely long disappeared from the local wine shop's shelves.
The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle.
It smells like red currant, black currant (cassis), vanilla, light toast and geranium.
