Saturday, December 19, 2009 - What a wine that have survived for 42 years! Popped and poured. Very bright and lively nose of gamey, tar and tobacco, a very typical Hermitage nose. Though a little thin in the attack with simple and short finish at first, it still developed very well. Nose was muted after an hr but tea, licorice and acidity were so harmoniously well integrated into palate and the finishing was showing mineral and licorice on a bright side. Not very complex indeed but how can such an old wine can show such smoothness, and have a decent fruit inside?
