While this wine probably has many more years of life ahead, it showed its age at this serving. Lots of earth, spice and dark fruits on both the nose and the palate. The acidity was just shy of balancing the heavy and slightly gritty palate. Air out, but drink up.
This wine was overshadowed by the 2000 vintage also brought to dinner.
