90 Points

Monday, July 2, 2012 - Opened and decanted; started tasting at 2+ hours. Colour was dark ruby to medium ruby rim. Bouquet presented cassis, minerals, chocolate and plums. Palate showed good fruit concentration with chalky tannins. Still needs time--at least 2+ years more. Minerals, sour cherries and iodine blasting through the tannin cloak. Good acidity. Definitely more austere than its Cali cabernet counterparts. While fun to drink and probably better things to come, I think I'd rather plunk down the money on a petite chateau from bordeaux in a good vintage--I'm pretty sure I would be happier at the end of the bottle.
