Thursday, August 10, 2023 - The 1955 Lagrange is something of a blunt instrument, a little roughly-hewn around the edges. There's big red and black fruit which speak to the strength of the vintage, but it's also a slightly unripe, vegetal, green peppercorn, and a little brett. The fruit comes through better on the palate and it's surprising how tannic this is! I've scored this pretty close to the excellent 1940s vintages from this estate, but it feels like this presages Lagrange's difficult era.
