Saturday, April 20, 2013 - Popped and poured. Color is a darker-leaning red, which is surprising for a CdP of this vintage. On the nose, there is sweet raspberry, garrigue, and a bit of smoke on the backend. The nose is very enjoyable and complex, carrying classic CdP overtones, albeit on the slightly riper end of the spectrum. In the mouth, this wine is rich and flavorful, with the primary attributes being fruity red berries with a touch of ripe figs. The fruit lingers on the finish, along with a bit of tannin. Overall, this is a very nice wine for the vintage that highlights the joys of good Grenache. The QPR on this wine ($29 from Premier Cru) is amazing, and this bottle had zero of the Brett Monster that has apparently affected other 2008 Pegaus. I would buy more, particularly for around $30. 93+ points.
