Thursday, August 29, 2013 - I've been waiting six months for delivery on a half case of this from Crush Wine in NY, and it finally arrived yesterday. Thought I should let it rest, but that idea only held up for 24 hours. Deep plum red in the glass. Pnp, and the deeply satisfying nose of grass, slate, and barnyard blooms from the glass, only slightly less funky and distinctive than I remember from the bottles I drank last year direct from the winery. The palate on this bottle is not as singular as the nose; tangy red fruit, earth, mushroom, and a touch of barnyard, but relatively subdued compared to some other bottles of this I've had. A nice, long finish with red fruit and grass lingering for quite a while. This wine has a sauvage quality which I adore, but which in all honesty might be had in almost equal amounts in a much cheaper, less prestigious wine - for example, the best from Christophe Foucher and other small organic producers who's wines can be had for half the price of this. And be aware, this funky, individualistic juice seems to have a ton of bottle variation. But this wine is sublime; seek it out.
