Saturday, December 31, 2011 - A true revelation for a Syrah lover. This wine is big, yet it is made in an elegant style with all components in perfect harmony. The nose expresses tons of cool dark fruits, flowers and an intriguing meatiness. There is also lovely minerals and luxuriously rich but elegant oak to be found. The palate is full-bodied with a very nice acidity intertwined with ample fruit and fine tannins. The finish is close to endless and lasts for well over a minute. Thanks to the acidity this is indeed a food friendly wine, but to rustic dishes like Boeuf Bourguignon. Do not be mistaken, this is an example of a "New World" style Syrah, but it is so meticulously made I am utterly impressed. (Decanted four hours before serving.)
